Shopping totes are so convenient but they never fit well on the back of wheelchairs.

They hang awkwardly because they have to be turned sideways. Handles are designed to go over a shoulder, with one handle attached across the front and one across the back of the bag.

But that’s the wrong way for hanging on a wheelchair. Both handles need to be attached from front to back. Changing the direction the handles are attached is a simple fix.

1. Find the center of the handles and make a cut.

2. Sew the front handles to the back handles. Use double stitching for a secure hold.

Finished tote hangs nicely from handles of a wheelchair!

About the Author

I have a passion for working with people who care for those who are in need of some assistance to live a quality life and pursue their dreams and goals. I take care of my son, Mike. As the mother of an adult I want his dreams to come true and I make it my responsibility to figure out how to make that happen for him. I love hearing other caregiver’s stories about how they care for their clients and help them live a quality life and pursue their dreams. And I love writing their stories to share with everyone.
